Mindful Sex with Maci Daye

This week on 60 Mindful Minutes we dive into a topic we’ve never covered before: sex! A few months ago, I read Maci Day’s book, Passion and Presence: A Couple’s Guide to Awakened Intimacy and Mindful Sex. It was a huge game changer for my husband and I. It had honestly never occurred to me that there was a place in the bedroom for mindfulness.

Of course, great sex is mindful sex. When we meet the fullness of a moment with our attention and focus, rather than trying to get somewhere or worrying about whether we’re doing something right, so much richness greets us.

As Maci writes in her book, couples go through three stages:

Stage 1: Enchantment
Stage 2: Disenchantment
Stage 3: Re-enchantment

After the initial chemical cocktail of arousal and attraction wears off, as it inevitably does, most couples end up in Stage 2 without out any idea of how to get out. Maci’s book offers a solution.
